Nuclear Energy Institute Posts Online Congressional Resource Guide

WASHINGTON, Jan. 29, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Nuclear Energy Institute today launched its new, online Congressional Resource Guide to help stakeholders and interested parties stay abreast of nuclear energy issues and policy positions.

The resource guide is a searchable, Web-based platform that examines nuclear energy's benefits and the technology's role as an economic driver and job creator. It discusses operational safety and security at nuclear energy facilities. It also includes industry testimony, speeches and letters sent to government agencies and officials, as well as statistical information about the nuclear energy industry.

"With the significant turnover in Congress and among congressional staff, there is an ongoing need to provide information and various viewpoints regarding nuclear energy and energy issues in general. The Congressional Resource Guide will help do that," said Alex Flint, NEI senior vice president of governmental affairs. "As an online resource, it's available and accessible to anyone and everyone who wants to know more about nuclear energy and about the industry's goals and priorities."

Nuclear energy facilities operating in 31 states provide electricity to one of every five U.S. homes and businesses.

The Nuclear Energy Institute is the nuclear energy industry's policy organization. This news release and additional information about nuclear energy are available at www.nei.org.
