CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - March 4, 2013) - On March 6, 2013, Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP (BD&P) will sponsor and the Calgary Homeless Foundation (CHF) will host a Community Summit that will see nearly 400 people gather to learn from international experts, to discuss progress to end homelessness and to honour those working on the front-lines.
"The Calgary Homeless Foundation continually raises the bar as a best in class not-for-profit organization and for the past 15 years, BD&P has been a proud partner of the Foundation's strategic initiative to end homelessness," said Craig Hill, Partner, BD&P.
The CHF is pleased to announce the key note speakers this year are Nan Roman, President and CEO of the National Alliance to End Homelessness in the United States and Narelle Clay, National Chairperson of Homelessness Australia and CEO of Southern Youth and Family Services. Also speaking at the Summit will be Karen Stone, the Executive Director of the new Alberta Interagency Council on Homelessness.
Attendees at the Summit include representatives from non-profit agencies, business leaders, all levels of government, volunteers, the faith community, formerly homeless individuals, philanthropists and other concerned Calgarians. Delegates from other cities in Alberta with 10 Year Plans will also participate.
At lunch, the annual Arthur R. Smith Awards will be announced. These awards recognize and honour a front-line employee, team and volunteer who provide housing and support to those at risk of or experiencing homelessness in Calgary. Arthur Smith was a national leader on addressing homelessness: he was the founder of the CHF and provided wise counsel on Calgary's 10 Year Plan.
The event will be at the University of Calgary's Red and White Club (1817 Crowchild Trail NW) from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with lunch included.
