SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - Mar 25, 2013) - Cooley LLP announced today that it has moved its Seattle office to a significantly larger space to accommodate recent expansion. The new office is located at 1700 Seventh Avenue, Suite 1900; Cooley will occupy two floors in the building under a ten-year lease with expansion and renewal rights.
"Our growth in Seattle is a product of the vitality of the technology and life sciences sectors here," said John Robertson, partner-in-charge of Cooley's Seattle office. "We look forward to continuing to grow with our clients and our community -- this new location will ensure that we have the necessary resources to do so. Our new office is located in the heart of where Seattle's innovation companies are locating now, spurred in large part by Amazon's investments in the Denny Triangle and South Lake Union areas."
As a hotbed for biotech, life sciences and technology companies, Seattle has been a natural fit for Cooley since opening its office there in 2008 with the addition of four founding partners. Since then, the office has grown dramatically, establishing a full-service litigation group, including class action and securities litigation practices, as well as privacy and technology licensing groups. The growth accelerated in 2011 with the addition of the leading patent prosecution and IP strategy group, which included partners Bill Christiansen, Emily Wagner, and Carol Laherty.
The office represents private and public clients at all phases of their business cycles and provides counsel for the complex transactions and litigation matters faced by start-up, emerging, and established companies, as well as venture capital and private equity funds and underwriters. Representative Seattle-based clients include Seattle Genetics, Zulily, Gilead Sciences, HTC, Tableau Software, Appature, Madrona Ventures, Third Rock Ventures, Accellerator Corp., aTyr Pharma, and the Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center.
