PHILADELPHIA, April 3, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- AmeriHealth Mercy Family of Companies (AMFC), a national leader in Medicaid managed care and other health care solutions for the underserved, announced Priscilla Sims Brown has joined the company as senior vice president and chief marketing and development officer, effective today. An award-winning marketing executive with a proven track record of success in building brands and successfully expanding businesses into new markets, Brown will lead AMFC's marketing, product development, market expansion and corporate communications efforts across the enterprise. She will report to AMFC President and Chief Executive Officer Michael A. Rashid.
Brown comes to AMFC from Sun Life Financial, where, as senior vice president and head of marketing and strategy, she built the company's first central marketing and brand function, which more than quadrupled the company's consumer brand awareness (from 4 percent to 18 percent) in less than six months. She and Sun Life Financial garnered multiple awards for their marketing and communications programs.
Prior to joining Sun Life Financial, Brown spent 18 years at Lincoln Financial Group, the last six of them as chief marketing and brand officer.
Passionate about inspiring youth and building communities, Brown's Board participation includes the Eagles Youth Partnership, Project Mercy, her family's nonprofit, which develops and manages schools, hospitals and other state-of-the-art self-help programs in Africa, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. She is a former member of the Executive Committee of the Board of WHYY and has served on the National Finance Committee for President Barack Obama. Brown was also named one of Advertising Age's "Forty Women To Watch In Marketing" and Black Enterprise magazine's "Top Executives in Marketing and Advertising."
"Priscilla has an outstanding reputation for increasing brand awareness and expanding markets," said Rashid. "We are pleased to have her join our executive leadership team and lead AMFC's efforts to better demonstrate our brand nationally."
Brown assumes the role previously held by Gale Pearce, who will move into a leadership position with AMFC's growing Florida business. "AmeriHealth has worked hard to build a reputation as the partner of choice for states seeking innovative solutions to care for the underserved while, at the same time, balancing budget constraints," said Brown. "This solutions-oriented focus, backed by the company's strong care management and operational excellence, has put AmeriHealth on a strong growth trajectory that I look forward to continuing in the months and years to come."
