DALLAS, TX--(Marketwired - Apr 11, 2013) - Parks Associates announced today executives from aioTV, Comcast Cable, Rovi, and Samsung will address the monetization opportunities and development challenges for cross-platform user interfaces (UIs) during the CONNECTIONS™ session "Search, Discovery, Recommendation: New Revenues and Experiences."
The international research firm will host CONNECTIONS™: The Premier Connected Home Conference, co-located with CTIA, on May 20-23 in Las Vegas. Parks Associates research finds over one-third of smartphone and tablet owners use these devices to search for or request information while watching TV.
"As the volume of content available to consumers continues to increase, viewers struggle to find content that is interesting to them. Inevitably, they end up with the '1,000-channels-and-nothing-to-watch' mentality about their TV service," said Brett Sappington, director, research, Parks Associates. "Today's discovery functions are designed for consumers who know what they want to watch, allowing them to search for content by title, genre, and actor. Tomorrow's discovery functions will use a variety of inputs to match consumers to the content that suits their preferences. In addition to improving the viewing experience, service providers will have the opportunity to derive incremental revenues."
This executive session at CONNECTIONS™, moderated by Sappington, will analyze the new crop of solutions improving cross-platform UIs and managing multiple streams of content. It takes place Wednesday, May 22, 3:15 P.M., following keynote speaker John Penney, EVP, Strategy, Business Development, & Worldwide Distribution, Starz.
