ATMI Debuts Integrity(R) LevMixer(R) 3 at INTERPHEX

Next Generation Single-Use Mixer Offers Remote Control Feature and Real-Time Monitoring Alert System

DANBURY, Conn., April 17, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ATMI, Inc. (Nasdaq:ATMI), a global technology company and leader in single-use bioprocess solutions, today unveiled the third generation of its Integrity® LevMixer® system with full remote control capability and real-time speed reading. The LevMixer 3 model builds on the second generation LevMixer's mobile, single-use mixing platform to enable efficient mixing in a wide range of volumes from 6 Liters to 2,000 Liters with real-time reading of impeller speed and a process monitoring/alert capability. It is also the first mixer of its kind to be offered as fully Underwriter's Laboratory (UL)–certified. The LevMixer 3 will be available for viewing from April 23rd – 25th during the INTERPHEX trade show in New York, NY at ATMI LifeSciences booth #3319.

The new real-time reading of impeller speed on the LevMixer 3 has an alarm feature that alerts the user to any process disruptions, such as the impeller separating from the drive head. Users may access a detailed activity report during on-going applications to monitor the mixer either onsite, or remotely from a different location. Additionally, the mixer may either be controlled onsite or remotely, based on user preference. When operating onsite, users will benefit from an easy-to-use touchscreen PLC that features access to the mixing recipe in use.

"ATMI is driven by innovation and quality, and has continued to proactively tighten specifications in our systems for customers," said ATMI Global Director of Business Development for ATMI LifeSciences, Jeffery Craig. "We are pleased to say that many of our mixers are used in cGMP environments. There are also more than 750 ATMI drive units and 2,000 tanks being operated in the market at present—more than any other supplier."

The LevMixer 3 system is based on non-contact magnetic coupling, which creates an equilibrium position for the tank drive units. Each unit allows maximum flexibility through the ability to use interchangeable tanks in conjunction with the drive system. In many cases, one drive unit can service three mixing systems. ATMI also provides open architecture for users to either take advantage of the complementary single-use vessels delivered with the mixer, or use their current vendor's vessels. All ATMI vessels are created from proprietary TK8 film, which has been shown to be less cytotoxic than other market offerings. TK8 film is manufactured by ATMI in a Class 5 clean room environment.

"ATMI was the first company to file patents for impeller-based mixing technology, and all parts used in the LevMixer are based on ATMI-patented single-use process technologies," offered Integrity Single-Use Fluid Technologies Product Manager for ATMI LifeSciences, Eric Isberg. "Our core focus has been to use these technologies to improve user experience and offer the most comprehensive range of single-use mixing systems to the market for a wide range of applications. Development for the LevMixer 3 project focused on advancing the technology by protecting the rotation of the impeller and providing real-time reading of the impeller with an alarm feature."

The new LevMixer 3 platform is available for commercial sale at the time of press. For more information please visit www.atmi.com/lifesciences/products/mixers/levmixer.html. To schedule a meeting during or after INTERPHEX, please contact Eric Isberg at eisberg@atmi.com.
