OAKLAND, Calif., April 22, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- According to the Center for Special Education Finance, the average cost to educate a student with special needs is $19,000 a year, a significant financial responsibility for school districts, especially in these times of severe budget cuts. To address the growing numbers of students with special needs, many districts have turned to Response to Intervention (RTI). RTI is a model wherein a student is given research-based instruction and interventions, student progress is monitored, and results are used to make decisions about further intervention.
