HOLLYWOOD, FL--(Marketwired - Apr 25, 2013) - The Taft Foundation recently made a $1 million donation to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Foundation in support of the Conine Clubhouse. The generous gift will be used to assist with the Clubhouse's capital and ongoing operational needs, ensuring it will remain a "free" place to stay for families in their greatest time of need.
The Taft Foundation was established by Don Taft, a longtime businessman, entrepreneur, and philanthropist who spent his later years in South Florida. Taft was actively involved with Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital for many years and was specifically fond of the Conine Clubhouse. He became close with Jeff and Cindy Conine and was a staunch supporter of their annual charity golf tournament which raises funds for the Conine Clubhouse.
"We are delighted to support the outstanding work of Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Foundation," said Howard Rothman of The Taft Foundation. "The Conine Clubhouse was very meaningful to Don. It is most fitting that this contribution directly benefits a cause which was so dear to his heart."
Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital provides high-quality medical care to all children, regardless of their ability to pay. The Conine Clubhouse has provided a home-away-from-home to more than 7,000 families from across the United States and more than 20 countries. The Conine Clubhouse's private rooms, playroom and family support area have offered comfort during times of medical crises. The Conine Clubhouse is located on the hospital campus and provides all the amenities of a three-star hotel. It is a non-profit residence that is supported through donations from individuals or corporations and funds raised from special events.
