NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - May 21, 2013) - KEMP Technologies today announces the general availability of its Edge Security Pack (ESP) in its LoadMaster product line of load balancer and application delivery controllers. The Edge Security Pack helps companies protect application workload servers from unauthorized access. As companies increase their deployment of business-critical web-facing applications, there is an increasing need for load balancers to provide high availability and minimize application security threats. For 13 years KEMP has led in developing load balancers and ADCs and is ideally positioned to extend its security features to address the increased need for edge security.
Key Facts
KEMP has extended its load balancing platform with new security features within the Edge Security Pack (ESP). The new security features build on existing core technologies such as the reverse proxy function to fill the gap left by the end of sale of Microsoft's Forefront TMG by integrating the most-widely used features formerly found in the TMG into the load balancer.
- End Point Authentication for Pre-Authorization
In order to access virtual services on the LoadMaster, clients must provide authentication information to be used by the ESP to validate the client's right to access the service. Active directory is used to protect workload servers from unauthorized access and single sign-on across multiple virtual services. When successfully authenticated, the client can access the service and in the event of failure the client will be blocked until valid credentials are provided.
- Persistent Logging and Reporting for User Logging
Improved logging and reporting capabilities track who is accessing virtual services and when. This will allow monitoring by the administrator to determine any unusual activities, including failed log-ins.
- Single Sign On across Virtual Services
KEMP LoadMasters are designed to handle multiple virtual services supporting unique workloads. These virtual services can be joined together into Single Sign On groups. The ESP will enable clients to only enter the authentication information for the first virtual service and then this same information will be used to access other services in the Single Sign On group. Therefore, a client accessing Exchange will also be able to access SharePoint and other workloads if they are configured as a Single Sign On group.
The ESP and all the new features are available immediately. To support the launch, KEMP is offering the ESP feature pack at no additional cost. The promotional period will end August 30th, 2013. To order or for more information please visit www.kemptechnologies.com.
Quote, Peter Melerud, EVP of product management at KEMP Technologies:
"The addition of the Edge Security Pack will deliver superior protection alongside the high performance and scalability that KEMP customers rely on. Microsoft may have withdrawn its Forefont TMG from the market, but businesses still need to protect applications such as Exchange and SharePoint from unauthorized use. Moreover, the hardware-based or virtual servers used to support the growth of Internet-facing, business-critical applications require KEMP's superior level of load balancing to ensure a scalable, reliable and secure work load."
