Frankfort chiropractor and nutritionist Dr. Scott Stratton announced a free healthy living seminar at his practice, Advanced Chiropractic Wellness Center. The seminar, to be held on Tuesday, June 11 from 7pm to 8pm, will discuss the importance of healthy eating habits for preventing chronic disease and supporting whole body health.
"I am excited to announce our upcoming health and nutrition seminar," said Dr. Stratton. "This seminar will empower patients to take active control of their diets, reduce their risk for chronic disease, and learn how to make healthy eating choices."
Dr. Stratton is offering the free seminar in response to the current chronic disease epidemic affecting millions of Americans.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 7 out of 10 deaths each year are due to chronic disease. One out of every two adults has a chronic illness. Seventy-five percent of health care dollars spent each year go to the treatment of chronic disease.
"As a nation, we spend more money treating chronic diseases than we do preventing them. However, it is not too late to change this. My upcoming seminar includes lifestyle advice and healthy eating habits to help patients adopt healthier habits," said Dr. Stratton.
Dr. Stratton cites devitalized foods made from white sugar, white flour, and trans-fats as a primary cause for many of today's chronic health problems. Preservatives, artificial ingredients and fast foods contribute to a poor diet.
"Your body is what you feed it," said Dr. Stratton. "The bottom line is simple: if you are not feeling 100% healthy, then you are eating food that is not nourishing your body. In essence, you are creating disease."
The nutritional health talk will include lifestyle advice for participants to make positive food choices and adopt healthy eating habits. For example, Dr. Stratton says that removing gluten and processed foods can significantly cut down on chronic fatigue, digestion problems and weight gain.
"Simple changes, like incorporating more organic produce into an individual's diet, may not seem like much, but these changes go a long way to improving overall health," said Dr. Stratton. "The seminar includes real lifestyle advice to help people make the changes today."
