VERNON, Calif., July 2, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Exide Technologies today issued the following statement concerning Superior Court Judge Luis A. Lavin's order issuing a preliminary injunction permitting Exide Technologies to remain open at its Vernon, California plant:
"We are pleased with the Judge's decision today that allows us to remain open at our Vernon plant and continue full battery recycling production. Implementation of our planned storm water and air quality control improvements is under way. We have already completed installation of a temporary above-ground storm water piping system and are working with the South Coast Air Quality Management District to schedule appropriate testing to confirm our earlier efforts to significantly reduce air emissions.
With this initial uncertainty removed, Exide can now further advance these improvements, all towards our goal of running a premier facility in compliance with California's stringent regulatory programs.
Based on the Judge's decision, we have reopened and returned jobs to our full work force of 130 employees. We are pleased to be successfully recycling batteries and fully providing this critical environmental service to California again."
