FORT WORTH, Texas, Aug. 7, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Allied Electronics, a trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE: ECM), held a symbolic flag-raising ceremony at its corporate offices in Fort Worth, Texas, on Tuesday morning, August 6, 2013. The event commemorated 85 years since the company's founding in 1928 as Allied Radio in Chicago, Ill.
Approximately 200 employees along with special guests, former Allied president, David Yaniko, controller, Mark McKone and trade show manager, Ruthette Raines, attended the flag raising and enjoyed coffee and donuts.
Scott McLendon, President of Allied Electronics, opened the ceremony with a brief recounting of the Allied history. "We have a rich 85 year history during which we successfully navigated ever changing market environments. Through the years, Allied remained focused on delivering great customer experiences and it is that unwavering focus that will see us grow and remain successful in the future. I am proud and humbled to lead a company with our legacy, accomplishments and team of people who make Allied a great place to work."
Klaus Göldenbot, Global Sales Director for Electrocomponents plc, also attended the ceremony.
