Haier, Lowe's Make the Grade for Dorm Space-Management

From Appliances to Decor, Brands Help Students Cover All Dorm Room Bases

NEW YORK, Aug. 13, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Haier, the global leader in appliances1, offers entertaining space and design solutions for college dorm move-in season with helpful décor tips from Lowe's, to make the most of cramped spaces.

This season, Haier America highlights smart, space-saving appliances for college dorm rooms and apartments. Regardless of budget, the brand believes its products represent some of the biggest consumer insights offered in small packages.

"Personal appliances like our mini-fridges, microwaves, beverage centers and TV/DVD combos help ease the stresses of dorm room living," said James Liess, Haier senior manager of corporate communications. "With Haier, students enjoy the conveniences of appliances without losing valuable space."

Culture in a Can

When it comes to appliances, Haier says students need not sacrifice style for function. Accordingly, Haier understands that many emerging thespians live a canned beverage lifestyle and meets them where they live with a dedicated, in-room beverage center. The beverage center is 4.6 cubic feet and holds 150 drinks. Beyond the can, Haier's small-capacity mini-fridges store healthy snacks and microwaveable entrees. These fridges come in an array of colors to suit an individual's décor.

Shrunken Luxuries

The average student may fantasize about fitting their parents' home comforts inside of a discernably smaller footprint. Gracefully transitioning from the life of luxury found in deluxe ovens and flat screen TVs, Haier brings students a viable and pleasing new reality. Haier offers dozens of microwaves with a range of sizes and features. Haier's TV/DVD combination also saves the day and space when it comes to entertaining. Additionally, the brand has a number of LCD HDTV options ranging from 32" to 22" for either a dorm room or college apartment.

Haier microwaves and mini-refrigerators are available at Lowe's nationwide.

Sacred Space

Lowe's recommends designing a student's dorm room by creating a functional space with smart storage. Lowe's offers hundreds of storage solutions to maximize every inch of small spaces with over-the-door closet organizers, stackable shelving and under-the-bed storage units.

Color It You

If personalization is the aim, students may turn a drab, boring room into an individual reflection of style through bursts of color. Start with colorful window coverings and fashionable rugs to create a custom study nook with a splash of color. To further bring a space to life, the style experts at Lowe's suggest adding functional design elements, such as chalk or whiteboard paint, to provide unique, fun and useful ways to communicate with friends and organize schoolwork.
