TORRANCE, CA--(Marketwired - Aug 27, 2013) - Storm Properties, Inc. and sister residential building company Storm Western Development, Inc. have added Steven Chaparro as senior project manager for the Torrance-based businesses.
In his new position, Chaparro is responsible for the development and completion of construction assignments, including assisting in the design, contracting and construction of active and upcoming projects. The latest undertaking is a new CVS Pharmacy, now under construction in Phase I of its Storm Plaza retail center, located at the northwest corner of Sepulveda Boulevard and Normandie Avenue in Torrance.
Storm Western has received tentative tract map approval for Cypress Pointe, a 16-home, small-lot, detached community at Pacific Coast Highway and Cypress Street in Lomita. The neighborhood is expected to complete the approval process and begin construction in 2014.
"Steven has an ideal mix of skills and expertise for our real estate portfolio," said Jay Ahluwalia, president of the two Storm entities. "He has a grasp of both the residential and commercial sides of the process, from design through permitting and construction."
Chaparro has an extensive background in similar positions, including with K. Hovnanian Homes Inc., where he was responsible for area day-to-day operations management of the national homebuilder. A graduate of the University of Southern California with a Bachelor's of Architecture degree, Chaparro gained additional experience as project manager in an architectural firm.
Storm Properties has been engaged in the development, management and sale of industrial, commercial and multifamily real estate for more than 40 years, successfully developing nearly 1 million square-feet of industrial and commercial buildings. The company currently operates a diverse portfolio of industrial, retail, and multi-family properties and land, and is targeting significant growth through further acquisitions. Storm Western Development has built over 400 residential units and is actively developing several residential communities in the Southern California region.
Both firms are subsidiaries of Torrance-based Storm Industries, Inc., an innovative and entrepreneurial organization with a growing family of companies. Over its 80-year history, Storm has evolved from a single brass foundry in Los Angeles to a highly diversified group of businesses operating across the globe.
