Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union Honored for Hispanic Outreach Efforts

Cornerstone League to Present San Antonio Area Credit Union With 'Juntos Avanzamos' Flag Ceremony Sept. 5

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas, Aug. 30, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Cornerstone Credit Union League (League) will hold a Juntos Avanzamos flag raising ceremony at Universal City-based Randolph-Brooks FCU (RBFCU) Sept. 5. The credit union is one of several to have recently earned the designation.

GECU (El Paso), Southwest 66 CU (Odessa) and TCC CU (Dallas) have also earned the Juntos Avanzamos designation. GECU's flag raising ceremony was Aug. 28. The League will hold a flag raising event at Southwest 66 CU in October, and TCC CU's event has not been scheduled yet.

The program's goal is to identify Texas credit unions that are effectively serving the needs of the emerging Hispanic market. When Hispanic families see the Juntos Avanzamos flag, they will know that affordable and friendly financial services are available to them at that institution.

The designation must be earned. To be eligible, credit unions must go through a rigorous application process demonstrating they have the capacity, commitment, and compassion to serve the Hispanic market's financial needs.

"At RBFCU, our mission is to improve our members' economic well-being and overall quality of life. That includes making our financial institution accessible to all members and to our Hispanic community in particular, so they can save time, save money and earn money," said RBFCU President and CEO Chris O'Connor. "Receiving the Juntos Avanzamos recognition means we're doing our job, taking care of our members, providing inclusive service and meeting their needs."

League CEO Dick Ensweiler will officiate the Sept. 5 event at RBFCU, and Rep. Joe Farias is among the dignitaries and special guests participating. The flag raising event will be held at the credit union's 6475 Baywater Drive location in San Antonio.
