Mimi Limbach Receives 2013 Distinguished Service Award from ANS

LA GRANGE PARK, Ill., Sept. 18, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The American Nuclear Society (ANS) recognizes Mimi Limbach with the 2013 Distinguished Service Award. The Award recognizes members of ANS who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the Society, or who have made outstanding non-technical contributions to the field of nuclear science and engineering.

Ms. Limbach has worked as a volunteer to raise the level of quality of communications trainings offered by ANS. She has also been instrumental in helping the Society to create a more strategic approach to communications.

"Because of her contributions to the Society, ANS is developing a greater presence in the nuclear conversation. She has been extremely generous with her communications expertise and has left an indelible mark on the Society."

Ms. Limbach, currently Managing Partner at Potomac Communications Group, has more than 30 years' experience in leading communications and campaign strategies to support a variety of nuclear energy issues. Previous to her work at Potomac Communications Group, Ms. Limbach held a variety of positions at the Westinghouse Electric Corporation covering a range of topics from litigation to marketing, eventually becoming the Director of Corporate Communications. She also serves as Vice President/President Elect of the Pacific Nuclear Council. A longtime member of ANS, she has served on the Public Information Committee, and led a multitude of communications training workshops, as well as a featured speaker on interacting with the public during the Fukushima Daiichi situation. She received her Bachelor's degree from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT.

Mimi will be recognized with the Distinguished Service Award at the 2013 ANS Winter Meeting, taking place November 10-14 in Washington, D.C.
