EDISON, N.J., Sept. 29, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Backsmart Wellness Center, P.A. in Edison, NJ announced that Dr. Jay Cohen has joined the practice. Dr. Cohen is an intervention pain specialist. He works closely with the Backsmart wellness team to help patients manage back pain, neck pain and headaches through multi-disciplinary pain management. One of his primary goals is to provide effective intervention that reduces or eliminates the need for surgery. He also treats patients who are suffering from pain following unsuccessful back surgery. Dr. Cohen focuses on minimally invasive procedures that both relieve pain symptoms as well as targeting the underlying cause for pain.
More than 86 million Americans suffer from chronic pain, including neck and back pain, headache and facial pain, arthritis pain, sports injury pain and post-accident pain. New Jersey residents struggling with chronic pain can now receive care from Dr. Jay Cohen, an intervention pain specialist who joined Backsmart Wellness Center on August 1.
"We are excited to welcome Dr. Cohen to the Backsmart Wellness team," said Edison chiropractor Dr. Michael Lagana. "Dr. Cohen's experience with pain management is a tremendous asset to our practice. His approach to diagnosing and treating pain naturally complements our commitment to minimally invasive procedures and cutting-edge therapies."
Dr. Cohen will assist in the treatment of a variety of chronic pain conditions, including back pain, neck pain, arthritis pain, and knee pain. He will also provide assistance for managing pain due to a workplace injury, an auto accident injury like whiplash, or a sports injury.
"My goal is simple: to diagnose the pain, create a treatment plan, and help patients start living again," said Dr. Cohen. "Working closely with the Backsmart wellness team, I integrate a variety of treatment techniques and cutting-edge technology into patient care. Following a multi-disciplinary approach delivers the best results for our patients."
Dr. Cohen combines a variety of different treatment techniques for maximum pain relief. This includes minimally invasive procedures and drug-free therapies, such as physical therapy and chiropractic care.
Dr. Cohen has substantial experience treating chronic pain patients. Together with Edison chiropractor Dr. Lagana, Dr. Cohen is working to raise awareness about the importance of multi-disciplinary care rather than one-size-fits-all pain management.
"As an intervention pain specialist, I am here to help patients get back to living their lives," said Dr. Cohen. "I find that this multi-disciplinary approach to pain relief best serves my patients' needs through fully customized treatment programs. Every patient is unique, and I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to pain management. By getting to know each patient personally, I can better determine the right course of treatment. I am here to bring patients back to life."
