NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - October 01, 2013) - Credly, the leading platform for managing digital badges and credentials, announced that The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York will issue its first digital badge for successful online course completion using the Credly system.
MoMA will begin utilizing digital badges to recognize learning and achievement as part of "Catalysts: Artists Creating with Sound Video, and Time," a six-week online course taught by media artist and scholar Randall Packer about the history of multimedia art at MoMA.
Students who complete and share media projects they develop each week are eligible to earn an official MoMA digital badge via Credly, which verifies their involvement in the program. Graduates can display their badges with the digital projects they have created for the course, and share them on social networks like LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.
The "Catalysts" course features avant-garde masterworks in performance, video, and sound by artists such as Marina Abramović, Bruce Nauman, Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik, and Bill Viola, as well as exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews with MoMA curators Paola Antonelli, Klaus Biesenbach, and Barbara London. The course -- one of many instructor-led online programs offered by MoMA this Fall -- offers a unique opportunity for students to explore how artists, engineers, curators, and even the public have participated in the explosive emergence of new media forms in the past 50 years.
Credly also announced the availability of two full scholarships for participation in the "Catalysts" course, which begins October 9, 2013. To apply, write to scholarships@credly.com. Applicants will be notified on or before Monday, October 7th.

About MoMA Courses
The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) offers courses in both instructor-led and self-guided formats. Instructor-led include programs in which students enjoy exclusive access to richly detailed videos, slide shows, audio, and readings, plus discussion forums that allow students to interact with an instructor and peers. Self-guided courses offer a more independent learning experience: students have access to the same content but do not interact with other students or teachers. For more information visit: MoMA.org/coursesonline.
MoMA Online Courses are made possible by a partnership with Volkswagen of America.
