VAUGHAN, Ontario, Oct. 2, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- PowerStream, a community-owned energy company that serves customers in York Region and Simcoe County, will be giving the public a look at how the electricity industry operates today as well as in the future through various displays at its 'Power for Tomorrow' exhibit at the Markham Fair from Thursday through Sunday this week.
The displays will feature several new technologies and systems the company is utilizing today, or will be implementing sometime in the near future, to provide additional services and more value to its customers. This includes technologies related to renewable energy, smart grid and electric vehicles. The booth will also have displays promoting conservation, electrical safety and customer service programs.
Visitors to the 'Power for Tomorrow' exhibit will learn first hand how the integration of renewable energy and smart grid technologies into PowerStream's distribution system is now helping to provide customers with safe, clean and reliable power as well as tools they can use to help better manage their energy costs. They will also be able to get a close look at one of the two 100% electric Nissan LEAF™ vehicles PowerStream currently has in its fleet.
Customers attending the 'Power for Tomorrow' exhibit will be able to sign up for the company's eBilling service onsite while all visitors who stop by will be invited to participate in a Twitter contest PowerStream is promoting entitled 'Snap, Tweet and Win!', in which prizes are being offered to individuals who take and tweet photos of themselves at the exhibit.
Individuals and families are also being encouraged to drop by the 'Power for Tomorrow' exhibit to enjoy one of Markham Fair's most popular annual attractions – a FREE PowerStream bucket truck ride.
