SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Oct 11, 2013) - From 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, San Francisco Plastic Surgeon Karen Horton, MD and her practice will be hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness (BRA) Day event at 2100 Webster Street, Suite 506, San Francisco, CA 94115. This marks the second straight year Dr. Horton and her staff will host the only event held in San Francisco and the entire Bay Area.
Beginning as an initiative to promote awareness for breast reconstruction options following lumpectomy or mastectomy, this year's BRA Day campaign has focused its efforts on a "'Team Approach' to breast cancer care from diagnosis through reconstruction," which includes collaboration between the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), The Plastic Surgery Foundation, and a variety of physicians and breast cancer care advocates.
The 2013 BRA Day event at Dr. Horton's practice will feature:
- A before-and-after slideshow of breast reconstruction images
- First-hand accounts from breast reconstruction patients
- An office-based awareness campaign highlighting advanced breast reconstruction techniques
- Several local businesses showing their support for breast cancer reconstruction awareness
According to Dr. Horton's blog post titled "BRA Day 2013 in San Francisco," a large part of her practice is "committed to increasing awareness and educating others about the options for breast reconstruction, particularly advanced breast reconstruction techniques involving implants in a single stage, or using microsurgical techniques that do not sacrifice major muscles of the body." She goes on to say she and her practice welcome anyone and everyone interested in supporting breast reconstruction awareness, and she hopes to see a great turnout.
