PORT WASHINGTON, NY--(Marketwired - Oct 28, 2013) - Publishers Clearing House (PCH), widely known as a leader in multi-channel direct marketing and a provider of digital play and win entertainment, today announced the launch of its third-annual charitable giving program called The Give Back (http://bit.ly/2013PCHGiveBack). First launched in 2011, The Give Back is a social media-based philanthropic event featured on Facebook where the fans are put in control. From October 28 through November 25, fans of the PCH Fan Page on Facebook will have the opportunity to vote once a day for one of three charitable organizations: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the USO (United Service Organizations) or the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®). At the end of the four-week campaign, more than $100,000 will be awarded: $50,000 to the charity with the most votes; $35,000 to the second-place charity; and $25,000 to the third-place charity.
"Our founders established a heritage of charitable giving that continues 60 years after the company was established. Nearly half of our profits go to charities each year," said Deborah Holland, executive vice president of PCH. "The Give Back is a perfect way for us to extend that legacy, to engage our community, and to raise awareness for three important causes. Our customers and entrants enjoy interacting with the PCH brand on Facebook, and this program gives our community the ability to make an impactful decision in an entertaining way."
Fans will not only be able to support their favorite charities, but will also have the opportunity to win cash themselves. Each vote for a charity is an entry into both a SuperPrize® and the Give Back Exclusive Prize, in which three $5,000 prizes will be awarded.
Details on the three charities that PCH has chosen to be a part of The Give Back 2013:
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's lifesaving mission is to advance cures and means of prevention for children battling cancer and other pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Thanks to donations, and consistent with the vision of St. Jude founder Danny Thomas, who believed that "no child should die in the dawn of life," every child is provided treatment regardless of race, religion, or ability to pay.
USO (United Service Organizations) - The USO is a nonprofit, nonpolitical organization that provides programs, services, and live entertainment to United States troops and their families. For the last 70 years, the USO and its supporters have worked to fulfill its mission of lifting the spirits of America's troops and their families and expressing gratitude for their dedication and sacrifice.
The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) - Founded in 1866, the ASPCA® was the first animal welfare organization established in North America and works to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals. The ASPCA is a national leader in the areas of anti-cruelty, community outreach, and animal health services.
After the voting period ends on November 25th, votes will be tallied and the charity winners will be revealed on the PCH fan page. The Prize Patrol will then embark on The Give Back charity tour to deliver big checks to each of the charities.
"Our job is to help make dreams come true, and we work hard to do this every single day," said Prize Patrol Elite member Danielle Lam. "We are truly privileged to be able to do this for organizations who make a difference by helping those in need. But we also know how much our fans love to win, so we're happy to be awarding three voter prizes of $5,000 a piece!"
Two million Americans are expected to interact with The Give Back. Fans will be able to "share" The Give Back charity information to their own friend network, with reach expected to extend to more than 1 million additional Facebook users.
Fans can vote and enter the cash sweepstakes once a day on the PCH Fan Page.
