BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA--(Marketwired - Nov 5, 2013) - Aconex, provider of the world's most widely used project collaboration solutions for the construction, infrastructure, power, mining, and oil and gas industries, has been adopted by FKP, an Australian property and investment group, for the development of Gasworks Newstead, a masterplanned urban community near the Brisbane River in Queensland. Newstead Riverpark was the site of the large gas plant which powered Brisbane for more than a century.
FKP is using the Aconex Online Collaboration Platform to manage documents, drawings, requests for information (RFIs), specifications, and other project communications. More than 36,000 documents and drawings have already been registered on the platform, which currently serves over 200 users from approximately 80 different organizations. The platform stores and tracks all versions of project files and correspondence, which are easy to search and captured in a permanent audit trail.
"A key challenge in managing this project is managing large data files," said Max Manoiloff, senior design manager at FKP Constructions. "We have far too many RFIs, documents and drawings -- which can be very large files -- to handle through email and FTP sites. With Aconex, we can coordinate, control and track all project data with accuracy and efficiency. After evaluating and using a number of competitive solutions, we picked Aconex because of our positive experience on other projects. We were up and running quickly, and our project team finds the platform easy to learn and use."
Brisbane Landmark
The Brisbane Gasworks was built in 1863 and provided gas derived from various sources to the city until its decommissioning in 1996. The utility's defining structure was a cylindrical gasometer, the pig iron framework of which has been restored as the centerpiece of the Gasworks Newstead plaza. The redevelopment project began in 2011 and will continue in phases over the next several years.
"The Gasworks Newstead project is a significant win for us," said Steven Brant, general manager of Australia and New Zealand at Aconex. "FKP's selection of Aconex after using other solutions demonstrates our differentiation in the market and speaks to our vast experience with construction projects of this scope. We look forward to helping FKP manage the project efficiently from day to day and deliver high-quality results."
