OWENSBORO, Ky., Nov. 6, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Philip A. Patterson began his tenure as president & chief executive officer of Owensboro Health this week. Patterson is replacing retiring president and CEO, Jeff Barber.

Since 2009, Patterson has been CEO of Bon Secours Charity Health System, a three-hospital system in the New York / New Jersey area with net patient revenue of nearly $500 million. The system is part of Bon Secours Health System, a 14-hospital Catholic system. He has held CEO or senior management positions in health care in New York, Minnesota, Alabama, Texas and Louisiana since 1994.
Patterson earned his Master of Health Administration from Georgia State University; a Master of Business Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham; and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Auburn University. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. A native of Mobile, Alabama, he and his wife Crystal have two children.
