Mammoth Lakes, Calif., Nov. 6, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mammoth Lakes, Calif. - Mammoth Mountain is excited to announce its lifts will start spinning Thursday, November 7th for the 2013/14 season and it's slated to be the perfect kick-off to winter. Skiers and snowboarders will get their first taste of winter with a solid base depth of 12-18 inches of natural and manmade snow and chairs 1, 6, and 11 are expected to run. The Unbound Terrain Parks crew is building a jump, a handful of jibs, and a small Playground area in Main Park for the freestylers that need their air time.
The weekend is packed with live music by LA Riots and Shiny Toy Guns, movie premieres, parties and more. Opening Day festivities would not be complete without the traditional Broadway Express banner breakthrough, a speech by Mammoth CEO, Rusty Gregory, and annual toast on the Main Lodge Sundeck with a specialty 60th Anniversary beer provided by the Mammoth Brewing Company.
In honor of Mammoth's 60th Anniversary, lift tickets are $60 Thursday, Nov. 7 - Monday, Nov. 11 along with $60 off lodging at any Mammoth property. In addition, the first 100 guests lined up at Chair 1 will receive a free lift ticket for Opening Day on Thursday, November 7.
Off the slopes, après options are abound. In addition to a full schedule of live music, film premiers, parties and DJ sets round out the weekend. The concerts are open to ages 21+ and tickets are available online or by calling 800.MAMMOTH.
