HARRISBURG, PA--(Marketwired - Dec 18, 2013) - D&H Distributing, the major North American computer products and consumer electronics distributor, announces it is ending its 95th Anniversary Year with approximately 11% growth in its final quarter of 2013 over last year. This reflects significant increases in sales of tablets, mobility and servers. Tablets alone experienced 200+% growth in Q4 2013 year over year.
D&H foresees considerable opportunities in 2014 for IT and SMB resellers as the marketplace nears the technical support deadline for the Microsoft XP operating system this coming April. Reports show that 40% of businesses have yet to deploy an alternative to Microsoft XP and more than half of small businesses were still unaware that support was soon subject to end. Similar deadlines loom for Microsoft Server 2003 and certain versions of Microsoft Office.
D&H will help prepare the IT community for the forthcoming XP refresh, including sponsorship of SMB Nation's "Million Mile" tour to educate small businesses on XP upgrade alternatives, plus reseller seminars at D&H's 2013 trade shows. The topic will persist throughout the 2014 D&H show schedule.
Evolving mobile computing models like Google Chromebooks will continue to invigorate the category, offering easy interoperability with Google apps and its cloud storage platform. Windows 8 OS is making steady strides in the business community, with sales peaking among smaller-screen tablets.
"It's been an exhilarating year at D&H, as we celebrated our 95th Anniversary and watched the market evolve," said Dan Schwab, co-president at D&H. "The year has been packed with milestones, like new Windows 8 amenities and anticipation of the XP migration. We are well-positioned to support our VARs as they pursue these opportunities."
