SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Jan. 7, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Envivio (Nasdaq:ENVI), a leading provider of software-based video processing and delivery solutions, today announced that Envivio 4K HEVC compression will be demonstrated by industry partners Broadcom, MStar Semiconductor and STMicroelectronics in Las Vegas during the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
These leading providers of chipsets and semiconductors for consumer devices, including television sets and set-top boxes (STBs), will feature content encoded by Envivio in 4K (Ultra HD) format, using the latest generation HEVC (H.265) video codec.

Broadcom and Envivio are working together on 4K HEVC trials with several Tier 1 video service providers as part of Envivio's HEVC Early Access Program.
MStar decoder chipsets are embedded in connected TVs supporting HEVC and 4K from multiple manufacturers. "We are delighted about this new collaboration. ST's Cannes and Monaco families of system-on-chip (SOC) solutions for set-top boxes support 4K HEVC decoding. "With the increasing demands for higher resolutions and quality, the best possible compression technologies are mandatory."
