19 NCAA track and field championships through 2018 to be held on Mondo tracks

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., Jan. 13, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- When it comes to host sites for NCAA track and field championships, Mondo tracks dominate the field.

The NCAA recently announced venues slated to host the Division I, Division II and Division III indoor and outdoor track and field regional and national championships for 2014 through 2018. Mondo tracks will serve as the competition surface for 19 of those championships.

Tracks made by Mondo, the global leader in the track and field, indoor sport and contract flooring markets, are known for their superior performance. Mondo has been an official supplier of athletic tracks for the past 10 Olympic Games, numerous IAAF World Championships, and a multitude of NCAA meets and other high-profile track competitions.

"Mondo's tracks are used at so many prestigious competitions because we are committed to developing fast tracks that let athletes perform their best," said Latasha Pittman, director of marketing and communications, Mondo USA, Inc. "That's why world records are routinely set on Mondo tracks—more than 230 overall. At the 2012 London Olympic Games alone, three world records, four Olympic records, 64 national records, and myriad personal and season bests were set on Mondo's track."

Of the 19 NCAA track and field competitions that will take place on Mondo surfaces, two will be held on Mondo's world-renowned Super X Performance track, 15 on Mondo's acclaimed Mondotrack and two on Mondo's new Super X 720 track.

About Mondo Tracks

Mondo's Super X Performance track has been the world's top track for more than 30 years and is installed at more than 1,100 venues globally.

Mondotrack was the track of the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympic Games.

The company's new Super X 720 track features reformulated rubber, and it combines the wear layer of Super X Performance track and the backing of Mondotrack vulcanized together to form one continuous, seamless piece of material that delivers exceptional traction, durability, drainage and safety. The reformulation of the rubber increases shock absorbency and energy return, which further helps the performance layer increase athletes' comfort during training and enables them to achieve faster times than when running on other surfaces.
