SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 14, 2014) - NVIDIA today announced that it has named David Shannon, who serves as general counsel and executive vice president of Human Resources, to the newly created role of chief administrative officer.
Brian Cabrera, a veteran tech industry attorney, will succeed him as senior vice president and general counsel.
Shannon's new position recognizes the expansion of his role from general counsel to include responsibility for Legal, HR and IP licensing. He joined NVIDIA 11 years ago, after serving nine years at Intel, where he held the position of vice president and assistant general counsel. Shannon, 58, also practiced for eight years at the law firm of Gibson Dunn and Crutcher.
Cabrera, 48, comes to NVIDIA from Synopsys, where he has served for eight years as senior vice president, general counsel, corporate secretary and chief ethics and compliance officer. Prior to that, he spent seven years as senior vice president, corporate development and general counsel for Callidus Software, and 11 years in a variety of legal roles at PeopleSoft, Netscape and Silicon Graphics, as well as in private practice.
"We are recognizing David's expanded role with this new position, which reflects his capabilities and many contributions to our company," said Jen-Hsun Huang, president and chief executive officer at NVIDIA. "Brian will be a great addition to our team with his strong legal and technology background and extensive industry experience. I welcome him to NVIDIA."
