WALNUT CREEK, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 28, 2014) - Paradigm Outcomes today announced the results of an independent study conducted by researchers from Milliman, Inc., an actuarial and consulting firm, which showed Paradigm achieves 5 times better return to work rates and 40% lower lifetime costs for catastrophic and complex claims compared to similar cases overseen using conventional case management. Milliman researchers observed that cases managed by Paradigm resulted in significantly improved clinical and financial outcomes due to a distinctive approach involving clinical experts, outcome-oriented planning, data analysis and guaranteed outcomes.

To conduct the study, researchers randomly selected a sample of 204 Paradigm cases completed between 2007 and 2012. They then compared this data to a carefully matched set of 488 cases culled from Milliman's workers' compensation database of more than 100,000 claims. Examined cases included traumatic brain injuries (TBI), spinal cord injuries (SCI), multiple traumas and amputations. The findings substantiate a similar 2008 Milliman study of cases completed between 1999 and 2006. By reproducing the earlier results, researchers documented Paradigm's consistent ability to achieve better clinical outcomes and lower lifetime costs.
