SAN DIEGO, CA and NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jan 28, 2014) - LightPointe, a leading manufacturer of Gigabit capacity broadband wireless bridges used by enterprises, 4G/LTE network operators, and in Ultra Low Latency applications such as High Frequency Trading of stocks and Data Center connectivity, announced new product additions to its two families of 70/80 GHz millimeter wave wireless bridges. Both the AireBeam Series and the Aire X-Stream Series are now available in 20 and 23 dBm versions and several models provide super-fast terminal latency of less than 10 nanoseconds, making the new radios the highest powered, lowest latency 70/80 GHz radios from any manufacturer.
"Our new AireBeam Plus and Aire X-Stream Plus wireless bridges represent the culmination of several years of millimeter wave R&D and listening to our enterprise and carrier customers," said Dr. Heinz Willebrand, CEO of LightPointe. "These customers are in a relentless pursuit to add bandwidth to their networks and deliver data as fast as possible, with the absolute lowest latency. Distance is also always a factor and that is where the higher transmit power is important. The combination of lowest possible equipment latency, high capacity, and long distance operation are particularly important for special latency-sensitive applications such as High Frequency Trading, where LightPointe is widely regarded as the leading radio manufacturer. In addition, using dual polarization transmission allows for doubling the capacity over a single antenna and it helps to conserve real estate on antenna towers and rooftops. Plus, these radios are available with a selection of frequency bands within the 71 to 86 GHz E-band frequency spectrum, and feature non-interfering dual channel operation. All this adds up to providing our customers with the highest output power and lowest latency radios, the end result being faster than fiber broadband connections, ease of installation, and unbeatable ROI."
The Aire X-Stream radios, which recently began shipping to customers for point-to-point applications requiring extremely high data rates up to an aggregated full duplex layer 1 throughput of 2.5 Gbps over a single link. Using multiple noninterfering frequency channels and polarizations, the total aggregated layer 1 system capacity reaches 10 Gbps. For easy installation, the new systems come with a re-designed lightweight, high tensile strength aluminum enclosure, flexible copper and fiber based connectivity options, a field attachable alignment tool, and include an industry-leading 2 year warranty. The radios are produced in LightPointe's San Diego, California Design Center, which combines engineering with manufacturing personnel to speed product innovation, customer delivery, and enhance quality. LightPointe, an ISO 9001:2008 certified company, moved into the facility in late 2012.
LightPointe's Aire X-Stream radios operate in what is referred to as Layer 1, or the Physical Layer, which is the fundamental layer in networking that defines the means of transmitting raw bits of information. Radios optimized for Layer 1 are built for speed, and can be daisy-chained back to back for multi-mile distances even between cities. LightPointe's AireBeam radios are optimized for Layer 2, which provides flexible network management, diverse protocols, and Quality of Service capabilities. Both the AireBeam and Aire X-Stream E-band radios are available in 20 dBm and 23 dBm configurations, which is designated in the product names as the "Plus" configuration. The AireBeam and Aire X-Stream models are primarily deployed in the USA, Germany, Australia, Mexico, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
