Robert "Bud" McFarlane, Former National Security Advisor, Joins Fuel Freedom Foundation's Board of Advisors

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwired - Feb 5, 2014) - Fuel Freedom Foundation today announced that Robert "Bud" McFarlane, former National Security Advisor under Ronald Reagan, co-founder of the U.S. Energy Security Council and a visionary in the oil and securities market, will be joining the Fuel Freedom Foundation advisory board.

Fuel Freedom Foundation is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that is working to reduce the cost of driving your existing car by opening the market to cheaper fuel choices at the pump. Achieving fuel freedom will mean accelerated economic growth, greater energy security, reduced air pollution, lower greenhouse gas emissions and improved health. Our goal is to reduce the cost of transportation fuels in the United States by $300 billion in the next ten years.

McFarlane brings a distinguished record of public service to Fuel Freedom Foundation. He spent ten years in the White House and the State Department where he served in various roles as Military Assistant to National Security Advisors Henry Kissinger and Brent Scowcroft; Counselor to the Secretary of State; the President's Special Representative to the Middle East, and ultimately as President Reagan's National Security Advisor. 

In 2011, McFarlane co-founded The U.S. Energy Security Council with former Director of Central Intelligence Agency James Woolsey. The USESC is a bipartisan group of former Cabinet-level officials, Fortune 50 CEOs, a Nobel Laureate, and senior retired military officers who focus on raising public awareness towards the risks of utilizing a single fuel strategy.

Prior to cofounder the USESC, Mr. McFarlane founded Global Energy Investors LLC, which sponsored energy and environmental projects in Brazil, Pakistan, the Philippines, Russia and China. Currently, Mr. McFarlane serves as Chairman and CEO of McFarlane Associates Inc., a consultancy focused on the development of alternative fuels which will help the US reduce its reliance on foreign oil.
