Chelsea Stoner Promoted to General Partner at Battery Ventures

Focus on Software and Healthcare-IT Investments Lays Foundation for New Role at Global Firm


MENLO PARK, CA--(Marketwired - Feb 18, 2014) - Battery Ventures, an investment firm focused on technology and innovation worldwide, announced it has promoted Chelsea Stoner to general partner.

Stoner, who joined Battery in 2006, is based in the firm's Menlo Park, Calif. office and specializes in investments in software and healthcare technology. She currently sits on the boards of "software-as-a-service" (SaaS) companies including Avalara, which develops sales-tax software for businesses; Brightree, a software company in the home-healthcare sector; and Intacct, a cloud-based, financial software company. She is also a director of Data Innovations, which makes software for clinical and blood laboratories.

Battery is announcing today that it led a $45 million financing round for Intacct, based in San Jose, Calif.

"She worked her way up to this position from her start as a senior associate and has consistently impressed us with her intelligence, strategic insights and tactical skills." Stoner also has been involved in Battery investments including Marketo (IPO); Glassdoor; Groupon (IPO); Guidewire (IPO); Practice Fusion; and RealPage (IPO).

Stoner was previously an associate with private-equity firm Key Principal Partners. Earlier in her career she worked as a manager at Accenture and also held positions with Merrill Lynch, in Hong Kong, and at Classified Ventures

She holds a BS with honors in chemical engineering from Northwestern University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
