NORCROSS, Ga., Feb. 27, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Comverge, Inc., the leading provider of Intelligent Energy Management solutions for residential and commercial & industrial (C&I) customers, is bringing together utility industry experts and demand response leaders for the 2014 Comverge Utility Conference (CUC). Utility executives, Comverge partners, regulators and other demand-side management professionals will attend the three-day event to discuss the latest trends, best practices and technologies in the energy management industry. The company's latest developments and innovations to its portfolio of software, hardware, and services will be showcased to attendees. This year's Comverge Utility Conference will be held at the Loews New Orleans Hotel in New Orleans, LA from May 5-7, 2014.

The conference theme is "Engaging Customers. Discovering Solutions." to reflect the emerging dialogue between utilities and their customers as well as how new two-way communication capabilities can drive increased engagement. Topics to be discussed include the transformation of demand response assets from emergency only resources to operational resources; the transition from one-way to two-way communications between utilities and their customers; and strategies for engaging participants in demand-side management programs. The agenda features more than ten general sessions, presentations, roundtables, and workshops, including a strategic update from Comverge president and CEO R. Blake Young, as well as presentations by other Comverge executives.

Keynote Speaker to Present on Best Practices for Emergency Preparedness

Lt. General Russel L. Honoré (Ret.) will give this year's keynote presentation. General Honoré was the Commander of Joint Task Force-Katrina and is a noted global preparedness authority. Prior to his command of Joint Task Force-Katrina – leading the Department of Defense response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana – General Honoré served in a variety of command and staff positions that focused on Defense Support to Civil Authorities and Homeland Defense. General Honoré is chairman of the Louisiana Bicentennial Commission and a board member with the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation. He is the author of "Survival: How a Culture of Preparedness Can Save You and Your Family from Disasters" and the new book "Leadership in the New Normal," which details how to be an effective leader in the 21st century.

"Given the overwhelming positive feedback we received from last year's attendees, we are very excited to once again provide a forum for our clients, partners and other industry professionals to exchange ideas on how to best implement successful energy management programs," stated Comverge President and CEO Blake Young. "Given the extreme weather we've had this winter and its disruption to utility operations, our attendees will also benefit from our keynote speaker's deep background in helping organizations with emergency preparedness."
