CLEVELAND, OH--(Marketwired - Feb 28, 2014) - Brian D. Tucker, who led Crain's Cleveland Business as publisher and editorial director for 25 years before his retirement last year, has been named Vice President and Director of Corporate Affairs by Dollar Bank.
"Brian's wealth of local and state knowledge and the respect he has earned from Northeast Ohio's senior business and civic leaders will be essential as we implement Dollar Bank's strategic initiatives in corporate and private banking, community development and media relations," said Andrew D. Devonshire, Dollar Bank's President of Ohio. "Brian's 28 years at Crain's makes him uniquely qualified to join our team as we celebrate 30 years of serving Northeast Ohio."
Tucker, a longtime popular commentator through his editorial-page column in Crain's, will continue his insightful and honest commentary on Cleveland's business environment in a new Dollar Bank blog as well as through speeches and other engagements in the community.
Tucker has been honored for his work by The Associated Press, United Press International, the Press Club of Cleveland and Kent State University's School of Journalism and Mass Communication. In 2012, he received the Award for Distinguished Service from the Cleveland chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
For 25 years, Tucker has played a prominent role in a number of non-profit entities, most recently with the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland. For the last seven years, he has chaired the Ronald House Pro-Am Golf Tournament. Under his leadership, the event generated a net contribution of $1.2 million for the charity, which serves as a temporary home for families with children being treated at Cleveland hospitals.
Tucker co-chaired one of the three task forces for the strategic plan of the Cleveland Orchestra. As a result, he helped create and served as the first chair of the Orchestra's Community Relations Committee. He is a past president of The City Club of Cleveland and board member of the predecessor organizations to Greater Cleveland Partnership and Positively Cleveland. He was also a two-term chair of The Presidents Council Foundation, which helps grow African-American owned businesses in Northeast Ohio.
Dollar Bank welcomes and looks forward to his contributions to its success and continued investment in Northeast Ohio.
