DRAPER, UT--(Marketwired - Mar 12, 2014) - Megadyne Medical Products, a leading developer, manufacturer and supplier of electrosurgical products, today announced the expansion of its commercial partnership with Ethicon US, LLC (Ethicon) Energy business, market leaders in advanced energy surgical devices. Effective immediately, Megadyne will begin selling Ethicon's ENDOPATH® Electrosurgery Probe Plus II Monopolar Electrosurgery line of products for all accounts in the United States. The probe system will further enhance Megadyne's already extensive electrosurgical portfolio. Current customers will continue to place orders through Ethicon and continue to receive products through normal distribution channels.
The ENDOPATH® Probe Plus II Electrosurgery System provides greater utility from a single laparoscopic device by combining monopolar electrosurgical capabilities with a suction irrigator. It is for use in minimally invasive procedures to facilitate tissue dissection, coagulation, irrigation and fluid evacuation through a common trocar sleeve. The probe offers the flexibility of four interchangeable handles and nine shafts to allow for multiple configurations to best meet surgeons' needs. The device is also compatible with Megadyne's Mega Power® generator, commonly used irrigation and suction devices, and monopolar electrosurgery units.
"We are excited to further develop our commercial partnership with Ethicon. Our companies share a common vision to advance surgery and improve patient outcomes through high quality standards, intuitive to use products and a customer solutions mindset," said Robert Farnsworth, CEO of Megadyne Medical Products. "The ENDOPATH Electrosurgery Probe Plus II fits perfectly into our complete offering of electrosurgical products and we are excited about the opportunity to add this high quality product to our portfolio." Megadyne and Ethicon established a joint promotion agreement in the Fall, allowing both companies to provide customers with a comprehensive portfolio of solutions across the spectrum of energy technologies; from monopolar and standard biopolar currently offered by Megadyne to advanced bipolar and ultrasonic currently offered by Ethicon. The venture offers both Megadyne and Ethicon customers a broadened variety of energy solutions to simplify their inventory management, as well as increased value through flexible contracting solutions, capital trade-out programs, product and supplier standardization and environmentally friendly solutions.
