WASHINGTON, March 18, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NAFC) announced that it has recently received a $1.4 million bequest from a long-time donor that wished to remain anonymous.
"The NAFC is grateful for this generous gift and honored that the NAFC was selected to administer the donor's philanthropic directives," said Nann Worel, NAFC President. "The bequest has been allocated to assist with the growth and sustainability of the NAFC. As a fairly young organization with a limited full-time staff of three, this bequest will go a long way in supporting the organization's mission to broaden access to affordable health care for the medically underserved by increasing public awareness, promoting volunteerism, and supporting and advocating for the nation's safety net of Free and Charitable Clinics."
The NAFC relies on donations, in addition to the member dues, to carry out the organization's goals and responsibilities. With unrestricted funds, the NAFC is able to cover operational needs, support programs such as the one-day C.A.R.E. Free Clinics and the Annual Summit, and to increase the support of and benefits for our member clinics across the nation that work hard everyday to provide essential health care services to the underserved.
