NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Mar 24, 2014) - 1800PublicRelations.com, Inc, a performance based multi-channel communications company that offers Public Relations + digital Content Marketing strategy services, announces today its short-name survey on affect movie character names have on real world people who share the same name. Over the decades we have all used blockbusters, TV shows, games and mini-series as forms of escapism from the monotony of our everyday lives, if only just for a moment. Who doesn't enjoy a good story and fall in love or hate with the characters that Hollywood creates.
One of 2013's biggest box office smash is Oscar nominated and Golden Globe's "Best picture of the year" movie American Hustle.
American Hustle is a 2013 American crime comedy-drama film directed by David O. Russell, from a screenplay written by Eric Warren Singer and Russell, loosely based on the FBI ABSCAM operation of the late 1970s and early 1980s. It stars Christian Bale and Amy Adams as two con artists who are forced by an FBI agent (Bradley Cooper) to set up an elaborate sting operation on corrupt politicians. It also stars Alessandro Nivola as Anthony Amado a sleazy prosecutor. {Wikipedia}
We asked real Anthony Amados how they feel about sharing their name with this particular character and what people's reaction when they introduces them self for the first time. Do people relate the movie's character of Anthony Amado with them?
Anthony Amado from New Jersey was quoted saying, "It actually a great question, I went to renew my license and when the guy asked for my full name, he said, 'Anthony Amado like from American Hustle! - That's so cool!' It's kind of fun to have my name associated with a movie character and the benefit now is, no one forgets my name."
Anthony Amado from an undisclosed area said, "The last couple of months have been insane, every time I say my name in full people ask, 'Like from America Hustle?' It's strange, because up until the movie came out I was just, good old Anthony Amado, now I'm Anthony Amado! I don't mind the reaction at all."
Anthony Amado from California said, "To be honest, it hasn't had that much impact on my life. Occasionally someone will comment that my name Anthony Amado is a character from American Hustle."
Another Anthony Amado said, "To be honest I love it. Girls at bars always smile and start flirting straight away when I tell them my name is Anthony Amado. It's as if the movie has elevated me to star status and I only share the name, luckily the sleaziness of the character hasn't translated to the comparison. You can tell the movie was a hit, cause most people relate my name now with the movie. He is a memorable dude and look, no complaints from me if it helps with the ladies."
As the old saying goes: any press is good press, so if you are a namesake to a villain, a super hero or even a scuzzy hustler it's all good branding. Of course, as long as they spell your name right.
