Orange County Plastic Surgeon Learns Latest Fat Grafting Techniques for Facial Rejuvenation

Dr. Semira Bayati Recently Attended The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery 2014 Symposium on Fat, Fillers, and Facts for Facial Rejuvenation

NEWPORT BEACH, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 27, 2014) -  The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) held its 2014 symposium from January 23 - 25, 2014 in Las Vegas, NV on the topic of facial rejuvenation. Newport Beach plastic surgeon, Dr. Semira Bayati, was among a number of other plastic surgeons that came together from all over the country to learn about the newest advancements in fat grafting for facial rejuvenation.

Some of the sessions at the conference included:

  • Brow Reshaping Using Structural Fat Grafting
  • The Top 10 Surgical Procedures That Can Be Replaced by Simple Micro Fat Grafting
  • Midfacial Deflation: Fat Grafting vs. Implants
  • Combining the Facelift and Fat Grafting
  • Fillers and Fat - How They Differ and Future Directions

In a recent blog post on Dr. Bayati's website titled, "Dr. Bayati Attends ASAPS Las Vegas Conference to Learn the Latest in Fat Grafting for Facial Rejuvenation," she says many plastic surgeons can now use minimally-invasive fat grafting to accomplish results similar to surgical procedures such as facelift, browlift, and eyelid surgery. Dr. Bayati notes that fat injections can also be used as an alternative to, or to enhance results of, breast augmentation and butt lift. She says fat grafting can also provide benefits similar to those from dermal fillers, and even provide more natural-looking and longer-lasting benefits since patients are using their own cells to restore volume.

Fat grafting is designed to remove excess fat from areas of the body like the hips, abdomen, and thighs with liposuction, and then the fat is filtered and concentrated before being injected to other body parts. Ultimately, the fat is transferred to other areas of the face and body that may benefit from enhanced volume. Dr. Bayati says the fat injections can rejuvenate the appearance of the buttocks, breasts, lips, cheeks, and other areas, and they can even be used for reducing signs of some types of scars. She says many fat grafting patients often enjoy the benefits of treatment for several years following the procedure because this process maximizes stem cells and increases longevity of the transferred fat grafts.

Dr. Bayati encourages people who are interested in minimally-invasive cosmetic enhancement alternatives to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon to determine if fat grafting is a viable treatment option.
