$15 Dog & Free Cat Adoptions May 31st and June 1st
Dog Fighting Bust Causes Overcrowding at Shelter
ORLANDO, Fla., May 30, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Confiscating thirty-four dogs from a dog fighting ring this week caused Orange County Animal Services to exceed its animal housing capacity. To help ease crowding and to make room to for the dogs seized in the animal cruelty investigation, Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando accepted adoptable dogs from OCAS and is making those pets available for adoption. This weekend dog adoptions are $15 and cat adoptions are FREE at the Pet Alliance Orlando and Sanford shelters to give the public the opportunity to rescue a pet, in turn making shelter resources available to help other animals in need.
"Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando immediately stepped up to the plate to assist Orange County Animals Services with the animals confiscated in the dog fighting raid," said Kerri Burns, Executive Director for Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. "Pet Alliance not only accepted adoptable animals from OCAS to ease crowding at their shelter but Pet Alliance veterinarians stepped in to provide medical support for OCAS shelter pets. Collaborating to save more lives is an appropriate use of Pet Alliance resources."
All dog adoptions are $15 and cat adoptions are FREE at both Pet Alliance shelters on May 31, 2014 and June 1, 2014. On average, Pet Alliance invests about $300 in every adoptable pet to provide sterilization, micro chipping, vaccinations, flea and heartworm prevention, pet health insurance, and a veterinarian examination. The Pet Alliance Orlando shelter is located at 2727 Conroy Road, Orlando, Florida 32839, phone number (407) 351-7722 and the Pet Alliance Sanford shelter is located at 2800 County Home Road, Sanford, Florida 32773, phone number (407) 323-8685. All adoptable pets are available for viewing online at www.petallianceorlando.org .
