LINCOLN, Neb., June 2, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- National Research Corporation (NASDAQ: NRCIA and NRCIB) announced the election of Barbara Mowry as the newest member of the Board of Directors, effective immediately. Mowry will be an active member of the company's audit, compensation, strategic planning, and nominating committees.
Mowry is Chief Executive Officer of GoreCreek Advisors, a privately held management consulting firm focused on working with CEOs and boards on business strategy and innovation. Prior to this, she was Senior Vice President of Data Integration at Oracle Corporation, an industry leading software, hardware, and services company. From 2003 to 2009 she served as CEO, President, and board member for Silver Creek Systems, Inc., a privately held venture capital funded software company where she was awarded technology patents and recognized as a market leader by major technology analyst firms, including Gartner and Forrester. Her extensive corporate background also includes CEO positions in four firms and holding executive leadership positions in three Fortune 500 companies, including United Airlines, TCI (Comcast), and Oracle Corporation.
Mowry is an experienced board member and currently serves on several boards, including Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City; board of trustees member for the Kauffman Foundation; board member for the Carlson School of Management; and is a board member of the Colorado Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and a NACD Leadership Fellow. In 2011, Mowry was named to the "International 100 Top Board Candidates with Global Skills," a Financial Times publication for board members. In 2010, she was named as "The Outstanding Woman in Business in Technology and Telecommunications" by the Denver Business Journal. Mowry is a graduate of Miami University and received an MBA from the University of Minnesota.
