MADD Canada's Second Annual GTA Strides for Change Features a 5 km Run, 5 km Walk and a 1 km Walk

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 4, 2014) - Community members and MADD Canada supporters will lace up their running shoes and join us on Sunday, June 8 as we bring our signature run/walk to the Greater Toronto Area for the second year. Strides for Change offers a 5 km competitive run, 5 km walk or 1 km walk to support MADD Canada's mission to stop impaired driving and to support victims of this violent crime.

This family-oriented event offers lots of activities while providing a meaningful way to support MADD Canada's efforts to stop impaired driving, a crime that claims between 1,250 and 1,500 lives and causes close to 64,000 injuries every year. A Tribute and Survivor Area will be set up at Sunday's event to honour all those affected by impaired driving and remind everyone why it is so important to continue to work towards eliminating this terrible crime.

MADD Canada welcomes media to the event.

"We are very excited to host our second annual Strides for Change event in the Greater Toronto Area," said MADD Canada Chief Executive Officer Andrew Murie. "We have a lot of very serious runners coming out to participate in that portion of the event, and we also have a lot of people who signed up for the recreational walk. Whatever the pace, everyone who's coming out to Strides for Change is making a very important contribution to the fight to stop impaired driving and helping MADD Canada support victims/survivors of this violent crime."

Registration for the GTA Strides for Change is $30 before June 4 (visit www.runningroom.com and search MADD Canada Strides for Change for info on pre-registration) or $40 for those registering on-site on event day.

MADD Canada thanks our GTA Strides for Change Presenting Sponsor, Alcohol Countermeasure Systems, and Official Sponsor, Allstate Insurance Company of Canada, for their generous support.
