BOSTON, MA and LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - Jun 10, 2014) - Entuity®, a leading global provider of enterprise-class network management solutions, today announced the general availability of Entuity 14.5, a major release of its award-winning software. Entuity maintains a semi-annual release schedule to address the most demanding challenges faced by network operators in today's complex and ever-changing enterprise network landscape. As with all Entuity releases, Entuity 14.5 is designed for the way people do business. Guided by input from major enterprises around the world, Entuity delivers capabilities that help businesses ensure that their networks can quickly accommodate changing technologies and enable innovation.
According to Jim Frey, Vice President, Enterprise Management Associates, "Entuity has a long history of excellence in producing enterprise-class network management solutions, and that tradition continues with this newest release. The Entuity team has always been very good at listening to the needs of its customers and moving its product forward to optimize flexibility and workflow efficiency, so management practices can keep pace with changes in the technologies within IT as well as the business priorities of the supported organization."
Highlights of Entuity 14.5 include:
Event Management System (EMS) Enhancements: A powerful new action has been introduced in Entuity 14.5 to forward events/incidents to other event aggregators or managers of managers without the need for a user context and with support for custom attributes. Several other important enhancements have been made to the Entuity EMS. A global trigger feature has been added which allows a given trigger to be applied to all incidents in one operation rather than needing to be applied separately to each individual incident. This is particularly useful when configuring the forwarding of incidents to third-party event managers.
A conditional trigger feature is now available that can be used in the context of a specified condition. For example, it can be used to automatically send an email when incidents are raised for certain devices, such as those in the network core. A condition can be applied to all trigger types, including global.
The EMS now includes a new UI configured event suppression facility, which can be used to suppress events from individual components or entire devices either reactively or proactively.
This release of the EMS also enables administrators to authorize users or groups to manipulate event suppression independently of the EMS, thus reducing the risk of operator errors that may adversely affect the system.
Entuity 14.5 now includes a recurring event suppression feature for regularly scheduled maintenance windows.
Topology Enhancements: Entuity 14.5 introduces a new feature, much desired by customers, that allows manually created links between devices to be added directly to the database so that any map that includes those devices will display the manually added links as though they had been automatically discovered.
"Both the Remote Web Terminal and manually created links for topological maps were features frequently requested by the Entuity user community. We try very hard to include updates for the latest technology along with user enhancement requests in every Entuity release. The feedback on these from testers in the field has been very positive," said John Diamond, Entuity Principal Solutions Architect.
Reporting Enhancements: Unlike some other network monitoring systems, Entuity includes extensive reporting capabilities for both out-of-the-box and custom reporting. New custom report templates have been added and existing ones have been enhanced to better fit within the workflow requirements of different organizations. These enhancements provide flexibility for organizations that would like to customize the reports themselves without external help. Filtering capabilities have been added across several report templates to allow more control over which components are included or excluded.
Remote Web Terminal: This formidable new feature adds the ability to access the command line interface of managed devices remotely via the browser using Telnet or SSH (v1 and v2).
The Remote Web Terminal provides both security and convenience by enabling access through the Entuity server rather than directly to the device for which a route may not exist. It also enables administrators to control access to the Remote Web Terminal feature. No browser customization or access to third-party applications is needed.
Audit Logging: Audit logging adds the ability to track and review configuration changes to the Entuity system. The Audit Log shows what changes have been made to the system, by which users, and when. This new feature helps administrators meet their organization's internal and external audit requirements while also providing useful information to Support teams, who can analyze changes using the web UI.
Administration, Usability and OS/Browser Support: Several enhancements are included in Entuity 14.5 to make it easier to construct and use dashboards, better manage users and to update support for Windows Server, Google Chrome and Microsoft Internet Explorer. A significant update has also been made to the online help system which now includes videos, How To's, FAQs, and makes it easier to search and navigate the general documentation content.
