ASSIA SVP of DSL Marketing Dr. George Ginis to Present on Access Network Virtualization at TNO's DSL Seminar

Dr. Ginis Will Present the Drivers of Access Network Virtualization, Two Approaches for Creating Virtual Access Networks, and Several Examples of New Services Enabled by Access Network Virtualization

REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 11, 2014) - ASSIA, Inc., a leading solutions company for broadband service providers, today announced that ASSIA SVP of DSL Marketing Dr. George Ginis will deliver a presentation, "Access Network Virtualization," at TNO's DSL Seminar on June 17, 2014 in The Hague, The Netherlands.

Dr. Ginis will explain why the high costs of building infrastructure for next-generation access, the growing sophistication of broadband consumers, and the industry's evolution towards software-defined networks are drivers of access network virtualization. Such virtualization delivers benefits to both the infrastructure providers and to the virtual network operators (or service providers). It enables service providers to share access infrastructure, to offer differentiated services, and to efficiently resolve network performance issues. Dr. Ginis will also describe two fundamental approaches for creating virtual access networks. The first approach includes a central controller shared by the service providers. The second approach uses distributed controllers for each of the providers. Dr. Ginis will conclude with several examples of new services that are enabled by access network virtualization.
