The NACHA Internet Council Meeting Explores Innovations in Mobile and Online Authentication

Authentify CEO Peter Tapling to Participate in Expert Panel

ATLANTA, June 16, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Authentication of the parties to a transaction, particularly authentication in mobile and online environments, continues to be a critical challenge for the financial services and credit payment industries. Authentify President and CEO Peter Tapling will join Sebastien Taveau, chief evangelist for Synaptics, and W. Avery Miller, payments capabilities manager for Capital One, to discuss these challenges at the NACHA Internet Council Meeting this week.

The recent OpenSSL Heartbleed and Crypto bypass flaws, as well as numerous data breaches, illustrate the potential dangers of using outdated or weak authentication practices like a simple username and password. Technologies that support new approaches to user authentication continue to emerge and evolve. This panel will explore the delicate balance between the customer experience and necessary risk management for corporate environments. The panel will also discuss the shortcomings of current authentication practices and where the industry might be headed.

The NACHA Internet Council Meeting will take place Tuesday, June 17 through Wednesday, June 18 at the W Hotel Midtown in Atlanta. The panel, "The Evolving State of Authentication," will take place on June 17 at 10:30 a.m. For more information or to view the full event agenda, please visit http://tic.nacha.org .

Tapling will be available for interviews and commentary throughout the event.
