SAN DIEGO, June 17, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Entropic (Nasdaq:ENTR), a world leader in semiconductor solutions for the connected home, today announced the EN2810, its second-generation, single-chip Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA®) 2.0 system solution has received a 2014 Cable Spotlight Product of the Year Award from Cable.TMCnet.com, a TMC sponsored cable technology website.
Building upon the maturity and performance of Entropic's first-generation MoCA 2.0 solution, the only MoCA 2.0 certified chipset already used in numerous OEM platforms, the EN2810 offers a path to a more economical and lower power solution without any sacrifices in performance. Additionally, by being pin compatible with Entropic's latest MoCA 1.1 chip, the EN2810 provides an easy migration path for OEMs to upgrade their products to MoCA 2.0.
The EN2810 provides the maximum throughput, critical power management features and enhanced network dependability to meet service providers' stringent Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. Potential applications include IP-Client set-top boxes when paired with Entropic's advanced system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions, gateway devices when partnered with DOCSIS integrated circuits (ICs) and other home networking products such as broadband routers, access points, Ethernet-to-Coax Adapters and WiFi extenders.
"Entropic is honored that our EN2810 MoCA 2.0 solution has been recognized by TMC for a 2014 Cable Spotlight Product of the Year Award," said Matt Rhodes, senior vice president, Global Marketing, Entropic. "Our EN2810 advances the connected home user experience, giving service providers and consumer electronics OEMs a reliable MoCA 2.0 backbone for distributing high-speed entertainment services and content in the home."
"It is my pleasure to recognize Entropic with a Cable Spotlight Product of the Year Award for its contribution to the advancement of cable technology solutions," said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. "I look forward to seeing more innovation from Entropic in the coming year."
