FT. LAUDERDALE, FL--(Marketwired - Jul 31, 2014) - The Community Association Leadership Lobby (CALL), a statewide advocacy group created by the Becker & Poliakoff law firm, is helping community association leaders analyze changes to laws affecting community associations with its 2014 Legislative Guides.
Designed to assist volunteer boards, management companies and professional managers, the Guides provide a comprehensive summary of the laws that passed the 2014 legislative session, including this year's main community association bill, HB 807, Relating to Residential Properties.
Areas addressed by the Legislature this year include new remedies for collection of unpaid maintenance fees, as well amendments affecting property insurance, association records keeping and the specification of services that can be provided by community association managers.
Four separate Guides -- one for condominium associations, one for cooperative associations, one for homeowners' associations, and one that addresses all three types of shared-ownership communities -- are available online in PDF format for easy reading and printing.
"The guides enable volunteer boards and professional managers to stay up to date on the latest legislation affecting their communities," said Yeline Goin, Tallahassee-based Executive Director, and lawyer/lobbyist for CALL. "In addition to explaining the provisions of the new laws, the Guides also include practical pointers that analyze specific details of the legislative changes and a list of recommended "Action Steps" for associations to follow after the 2014 legislative session."
The Legislative Guides also feature:
- Links to videos, including one of Rep. George Moraitis, the sponsor of HB 807, Relating to Residential Properties.
- Links to the legislative websites where the final "Enrolled" version of the bills can be accessed.
- Links to the legislative websites with the biographies of the bill sponsors.
- Comments about the significance of the new laws from sponsoring legislators.
