COLUMBUS, OH--(Marketwired - August 06, 2014) - Focusing on improving the health and safety of student-athletes, the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) has announced the approval for its member high schools to use the PrivIT e-PPE (electronic Pre-Participation Evaluation) solution to replace the current paper-based pre-participation evaluation (PPE) process used for interscholastic sports.
"In conjunction with our Sports Medicine Advisory Committee, the MSHSAA Executive Board is excited to recommend PrivIT e-PPE as a viable solution for the collection and management of our student-athlete's medical forms," Harvey Richards, Associate Executive Director for the MSHSAA. "As we continue to evolve into a more digital world, we recommend that our member schools stay progressive and research the possibilities to transition to a digital health questionnaire in an effort to better streamline the management and collection of these forms."
As the importance of pre-screening athletes continues to sweep the nation, more and more state high school athletic associations are adopting the use of digital tools to better manage student-athlete health information. In addition to the MSHSAA approving the use of PrivIT e-PPE, several other state high school associations have followed suit, including: California Interscholastic Federation, Georgia High School Association, Ohio High School Athletic Association, Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association, the University Interscholastic League, and Utah High School Activities Association.
"With over 100,000 student-athletes in the state of Missouri, we are excited that MSHSAA has recommended PrivIT e-PPE to provide its member schools with a solution to collect, manage, and access student-athlete health information in a more efficient manner," said Jeffrey Sopp, CEO of PrivIT. "To be able to provide state high school associations with a solution that helps improve the health and safety of student athletes is rewarding."
PrivIT e-PPE provides a comprehensive health history questionnaire that helps improve the pre-screening process required for interscholastic sport participation. Migrating the paper PPE process to the PrivIT e-PPE solution helps high schools better facilitate the process of collecting personal health history information from athletes and save time and costs associated with managing the paper process. In addition, it gives parents the flexibility to keep their child's health information current, and since the information is only entered once, updating the information in the future is as simple as clicking a few buttons.
PrivIT e-PPE is a patented and secure solution that includes a more comprehensive health history questionnaire that is easy to use and helps mitigate health risks related to sports. The reports generated by PrivIT e-PPE provide a detailed summary of an athlete's health history and readily identifies health risk areas to support the physical exam. Taking the paper-based process and transitioning it online will provide athletic trainers and coaches critical health information of student-athletes right from the sidelines.
