BUFFALO, NY--(Marketwired - Aug 15, 2014) - The Ingram Micro Inc. (
After VTN Big Apple Chapter President Daniel J. Haurey, CEO of New Jersey IT company Exigent Technologies, nominated The Center for the donation, thousands of dollars in technology equipment and services were gathered, integrated and deployed by Big Apple Chapter members. A not-for-profit service organization, The Center will leverage the new technology to better serve individuals living with HIV/AIDS as well as their caregivers. The Center offers housing services, nutrition programs, referral services, transportation, education and more.
"Like everyone else, we depend on computer services and technology, but as a small not-for-profit, it's a challenge to update and replace our equipment as we should," says Father Bob Kaeding, founder and executive director of The Center in Asbury Park. "We appreciate the support and services that Exigent and the Big Apple Cares program have provided. Having better technology will help us do our jobs better and get the word out about The Center. We're very grateful to all the firms involved in making these important contributions."
"Ingram Micro, VTN and the Big Apple Chapter share a commitment to the communities where we do business, and feel a responsibility to help those organizations that contribute so much to those local communities," says Haurey. "It is incredibly rewarding to work as a chapter to leverage Ingram Micro's resources and our manufacturing partnerships to bring the power of technology to The Center, and help them continue their work supporting families struggling with the impact of HIV/AIDS."
VTN Big Apple Chapter members donating their professional services to The Center included SysIntegrators, PriorityOne Group and Compulink Technologies. Those chapter members donating technology products included Quarterhorse Technology (SonicWALL firewall); Real Time Consultants (uninterruptable power supply); PriorityOne Group (EnGenius wireless access point); and Bit by Bit (PC monitors).
Manufacturers providing IT products included Acer Inc. (desktop computers); Buffalo Americas, Inc. (network attached storage); Sophos, Ltd. (anti-virus software) via Tahas Technologies; and StorageCraft Technology Corp. (backup software).
