STAMFORD, CT--(Marketwired - Aug 21, 2014) - Protegrity, the leading provider of data-centric enterprise data security solutions, announced today that its Chief Technology Officer and noted Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) contributor Ulf Mattsson is featured in SC Magazine's latest eBook "PCI 2014: From Compliance to Security."
In this eBook, SC Magazine focuses on understanding why after 10 years of being in existence, PCI Data Security Standards haven't managed to prevent massive data breaches at some of the world's largest merchants.
Mattsson has been a member of multiple PCI task forces and user groups for several years. Similar to what the article suggests, he is a proponent of using PCI as a baseline on which to improve and build a comprehensive data security program, customized for the requirements of each organization. A big part of the improvement could come in the form of tokenization, according to the article as well as Mattsson.
"The whole industry is looking at tokenization," says CTO Mattsson. "If most of the data flow is covered by tokens with no value to an attacker, then you can relax other security measures because the data is not valuable."
There is no magic remedy to solve every PCI issue that companies face today, but the eBook calls out point-to-point encryption and tokenization as some of the most promising technologies that can prevent future data breaches.
