Giving Away the Best Thing in Life, a Free Smile

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - Oct 1, 2014) - Wright Orthodontics announced today that 14 year old Andrew Franklin, a student at McEachern High School, is the 2014 recipient for Project WrightSmiles. Through this program, Wright Orthodontics, with offices in Atlanta and Marietta, provides orthodontic treatment to children who may not otherwise have access to these services. Andrew was chosen to receive a complete course of orthodontic treatment for free.

"Our goal is to create self-confidence and inspire hope in the lives of the children we treat and our community in a meaningful way," said Dr. Marc Wright. He added, "We feel fortunate to spend our time creating beautiful smiles for the children under our care and as rewarding as it is for us, we know what a great smile can do for a child, which is why we initiated Project WrightSmiles."

After being referred to Wright Orthodontics for a free consultation, Andrew's mom Michelle, a single mother, realized that getting her son braces was too expensive for her budget and she simply could not afford it. Andrew's mother received a call from Dr. Wright's office stating that he had been chosen to receive free orthodontic treatment.

"Andrew really wanted braces and I felt blessed and thankful that my son was chosen. He works very hard and he needed and deserved to have braces, I just couldn't afford them," said Michelle, Andrew's mother. Andrew Franklin was chosen because of his good grades and good attendance record. He is active in school activities and sports including basketball and football. Andrew was also chosen because he has been exceeding on the CRCT test annually.

Project WrightSmiles is currently working with local schools including McEachern High School and community organizations including Briar Cliff Woods Beach Club to identify children who truly need orthodontic care. "We believe that without Project WrightSmiles one more child would be denied access to having a beautiful smile and the self confidence that smile brings them," said Dr. Wright. "That is why we have chosen to help those in the community that could benefit from the Project WrightSmiles program."

The program is coordinated with the help and support of each organization's administration and applications are accepted on a quarterly basis. From this group Project WrightSmiles selects one individual to provide a full course of treatment, without charge. "I am just so grateful and want to thank Dr. Wright. I am also glad that the soreness has passed and I just look forward to the day that I can smile proudly and show my straight teeth," said Andrew.
